THE FINA BANK GROUP BACKGROUND

  • 1986 - Institution begins operations (originally as a non-banking financial institution).
  • 1991 - It is acquired by its present shareholders.
  • 1995 - Fina converts from a Non Banking Financial Institution (NBFI) to a bank after acquiring a banking license.
  • 1996 - Starts banking operations.
  • 2005 - It changes its strategy and relaunches Fina Bank as an SME Bank catering to Small and Medium Enterprise businesses.
  • 2005 - It acquires BACAR - a privately owned bank with the Government of Rwanda.
  • 2007 - Fina Bank Kenya awarded the Best SME Bank and Best Bank in Customer Satisfaction.
  • 2008 - Fina Bank opens four new branches in Kenya.
  • 2008 - Fina Bank relaunches its Kigali Head Office branch in Rwanda.
  • 2008 - Fina Bank begins operations in Uganda with two branches.
